Customs Audit Module

|
According to the US Customs Service and Border Protection Office of Strategic
Trade Regulatory Audit Division, the Customs audit team should be alert to and
consider any red flags, including:
-
A prior history of Customs problems;
-
Poorly defined and documented internal control procedures;
-
Ineffective monitoring of Customs operations;
-
Complex Customs transactions;
-
Lack of specific performance measures for Customs operations;
-
Poor communication systems regarding Customs requirements and reporting;
-
Poor oversight of Customs brokers and other agents involved in Customs activities.

The Customs Audit Module utilizes best industry
practices based on available compliance requirements, Importer Trade
Activity (ITRAC) data received under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA),
proprietary analytical and data mining tools, and past audit experiences.
It helps importers to reduce the probability of an audit by alleviating and
preventing multiple “red flag” problems, and to shorten the auditing cycle
by making Customs required information readily available to importers with
a click of a button.
