A Foreign Trade Zone is a site within the United States where foreign and domestic
merchandise is considered not to be within U.S. Customs territory, but in international
commerce. A Foreign Trade Zone offers significant benefits to the importing
community.
The Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has approved direct electronic
reporting to the Census Bureau of statistical data on goods admitted into a
Foreign Trade Zone CBP has strict statistical reporting requirements regarding
all merchandise admitted into and exiting the FTZ:
